Children and Young People

Children (0-11)

Jesus had much to say about children, and at River we take seriously His instruction to value them. During our Sunday morning meetings, normally the children of junior school age and below stay with their parents for the first 30 minutes, after which they are released to their own groups to enjoy various fun activities and teaching which helps them get to know Jesus.

  • Splash for age 2-5 (pre-school)
  • Flow for age 5 - 7 (primary school years reception, 1 and 2)
  • OverFlow  for age 7 - 11 (primary school years 3-6)

Under 2's are welcome to stay with their parents in the meeting and extra space and toys are available in the adjoining canteen area with a sound relay.

All of our work with children is staffed and run according to Child Protection guidelines by members of the congregation.

Young People (11+)

Our young people of secondary school age belong to Edge which is a youth group that meets on Sunday mornings with activities and teaching to help them understand their faith and get to know Jesus as a true friend.
  • Edge for Senior Schools Year 7-11 (age 11 - 16)
  • Edge+ for age 16 and above

On Wednesday evenings we meet for our Edge small group for more in-depth times of teaching, sharing and friendship (and we also eat together!). If you would like to join us email beth@riverchurch.org.uk

Edge + is our small group for age 16+ and runs alternate Sunday evenings. If you would like to join us email beth@riverchurch.org.uk

We also do regular social activities (usually on a Friday or Saturday evening) and trips out. Once a year, the Edge youth weekend takes place where we aim to create a space for the young people to explore their relationship with Jesus more, and have a great time away together!
