Breathless
There was a breathless moment
On the hills round Bethlehem
Before the angels sang
“Glad Tidings to all men”
An anxious Father waited
To hear His son’s first mortal cry
And all creation
Waited breathlessly with Him
That baby’s cry became our Battle Song
No enemy can stand before us long
Emmanuel,
God’s love for us is strong
It takes my breath away,
Simply takes my breath away
There was a breathless moment
There in dark Gethsemane
Before the angels came
To bring Him strength and peace
An anxious Father waited
To hear the words “Thy will be done”
And all creation
Waited breathlessly with Him
“Thy will be done” became our Battle Song
No enemy can stand before us long
Emmanuel
God’s love for us is strong
It takes my breath away,
Simply takes my breath away
There was a breathless moment
Between His death at Calvary
And when the angels sang
“He is risen, come and see!”
An anxious Father waited
To hear: “It is finished! Here’s the key!”
And all creation breathes again
For we are free!!
“It is finished” becomes our Battle Song
No enemy can stand before us long
Emmanuel
God’s love for us is strong
It takes my breath away
Simply takes my breath away.
