Pledge for Change

We have all read disturbing accounts of child abuse inside the wider Church and also stories about leaders who have been involved in cover-ups to protect their reputations. Thirtyone:eight have pledged to Make Change Happen, and we have joined them.

As River Church, alongsideThirtyone:eight, we pledge to:

• Speak up about the injustice of abuse and the need to change
• Put survivors first and listen to victims and survivors, putting their needs first
• Conceal nothing, so that when abuse is disclosed, it will be brought into the light
• Take responsibility and acknowledge that abuse happens in all cultures
• Make Change Happen - we will take active steps towards change
• Hold each other accountable and challenge poor practice wherever we see it
