about amanda bell
Amanda Bell read Economics at Girton College, Cambridge before training with a four-partner practice in Buckinghamshire. She qualified in 1995, winning an Institute Prize, and became assistant to the senior partner at the same firm.
In the seven years in that role she dealt with all aspects of accounting and taxation for owner-managed businesses and the self-employed, as well as providing personal tax advice. Specialist areas of work included charities and trusts.
In 2002 she became audit manager and assistant to the managing partner at an eight-partner practice in Berkshire. Adding to her previous experience, she worked with subsidiaries of foreign companies as well as owner-managed businesses in a wide range of industries.
Her passion for assisting small businesses at every stage of their financial life-cycle inspired her to set up her own practice to work alongside business owners, understand their business and financial needs, and simplify and clarify the financial framework in which they operate.
This passion extends to the personal tax needs of individuals, providing reassurance and assistance in every aspect of their personal taxation situation.
Whether your accounts are for a small sole trader, a larger partnership or a limited company, you will benefit from cost-effective completion of all information needed to meet statutory requirements and establish tax liabilities. Beyond that, we will advise you how to use your financial results as a planning tool for future direction and growth.
Annual accounts are not just a historical exercise – we add value to the information they contain by discussing the figures with you to ensure you understand the details and the implications going forward.
In reviewing all possible allowable expenses for you, your tax liability can be minimised and advice will always be given on how to improve your financial systems, maximising efficiency and security.
Regular management accounts can be produced with specific reports and statistics of your choice, giving you an up-to-date view of the progress of your business. We are available to discuss the financial issues arising and assist you in identifying future goals and targets.
bookkeeping & bureau services
You may feel that the size of your business does not justify full time assistance with financial recording and administration, but you may want to free yourself from this time-consuming burden.
These services can be undertaken for you in any combination, from a complete payments, administration and credit control function, through data processing, preparation of VAT returns and payroll.
There can be considerable benefits in our ongoing involvement in your bookkeeping and bureau services so that they are in the most efficient format for timely, cost-effective completion of year-end accounts and taxation.
As with most taxes, the requirements for limited companies continue to change and the basic forms required can seem long-winded and confusing.
We aim to simplify these for you, calculating the tax the company owes, advising on the timing of payments, completing all relevant forms and reviewing correspondence received from HM Revenue & Customs.
personal tax & finances
Whether you are required to complete a personal or partnership tax return, or just want to check that you have paid the correct amount of tax, your mind will be put at rest as you are guided through the minefield of tax rates and allowances.
All HM Revenue & Customs forms can be completed and submitted on line or in hard copy. The tax you owe will be calculated and payment dates advised, as well as reviewing ways to reduce your tax liability.
We also provide advice on Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax issues, areas where it is particularly advisable to seek guidance at the earliest opportunity in order to plan effectively.
business/personal planning & consultancy
Whether you are an established business or just starting up, it is beneficial to review your financial systems, business plans, and forecasts. We can do this for you, tailoring the work to your requirements and assisting you in planning the way forward.
On the personal side, we assist you by reviewing your personal finances so that you can take control of your expenditure, re-finance your debts or create a savings structure for your future.
