August Alive BBQ a great success
No, this picture was not taken at Tom & Annette's BBQ on Sunday 16th August. In fact most people were surprised at the lack of smoke as Tom cooked a large teryake marinaded topside of beef on his trusty weber. Aided by a meat thermometer, and three hours of slow cooking the beef was cooked to perfection with no charred bits at all - much to Tom's relief! It has to be admitted that there was some smoke as we then cooked the sausages and burgers, but what is a BBQ without a little smoke to add to the atmosphere?
It was a case of bringing your own garden chairs as about 25 folk came, bearing beautiful salads and desserts, carefully planned and coordinated by Annette, plus whatever drinks they wanted to consume or share with each other.
And what a beatiful day it was. Glorious sunshine, comfortably warm and lovely company. This is what Church should be like, sharing our lives in a community of faith. We still had the opportunity to pray for any sick among us, just in a more relaxed setting.
So here's to the next Celebration of Life in Community - our Dinner next Saturday 22nd August, 6pm for 6:30 at the Crooked Billett, Iver Heath. There's still room for anyone that wants to come along and at £9.95 each for a three course meal it is great value. Just give Mike a ring on 01753 534703. I will try to remember my camera for this one! |
