August Alive. Celebrating Life in Community.
Do you sometimes think that you don’t get to deepen your friendships in the church whilst you are at meetings? Would you like to kick back and hang out with a few folk in a less formal atmosphere? Well, August is your opportunity to do just that, because during August River Church Slough will not be meeting at Westgate School. Neither will our Wednesday small group be meeting between the dates of 29 July to 26 August.
But don’t despair……Slough folk and visitors will be very welcome to attend our Maidenhead or Marlow Congregations, and we will instead be arranging some social events in and around Slough to which everyone is invited to come and bring your friends.
Specifically we would like to invite you to come to the following events:
Sun 9th Aug at 1pm – Picnic at Cookham Riverside. Bring your own picnic and some games we can play together. Aileen is coordinating this event so if you haven’t got a map yet please call her on 07929 189143.
Sun 16th Aug at 1:30pm – BBQ at Tom & Annette’s house in Marlow. Annette will be coordinating what each person can bring, so let Annette know whether you are coming. For directions call Tom on 07515 422850.
Sat 22nd Aug at 6pm for 6:30 – Dinner at the Crooked Billett, Iver Heath. £9.95 per person for a 3 course meal, or choose from their a la carte menu. 24 folk have booked in already, so if you want to come book your place as soon as possible with Mike Francis, telephone 01753 534703. It would be great if we can get as many of our folk as possible to this event where we are taking over the top room for a more intimate atmosphere.
In addition to these events we hope to arrange some more neighbourhood based activities. But please don’t wait for the team to sort out your social life, why not invite some of those folk you see every week to come and have a drink with you, watch a film together or have a meal with each other?
Would our church exist without our meetings? It’s up to each one of us to share the life and liberty that Jesus has won for us, let’s do it folk.
